ABSTRACT
In this article, the author analyzes the different ways that music is understood presently and affirms that music is primarily a manifestation of thought and perceptual judgement. John Paynter talks about the place that music has in the current educational system and the dangers that music faces of being excluded; this depends on music being accepted by education as thought.
